Have You Ever Felt Guided by Something Unseen?

I’ve been thinking about the visual for my song 222 lately—a song about the inner child’s, or perhaps the soul’s, calling from beyond the veil.

As I reflected on my previous apartment, which also had the unit number 222, and the fact that Miao Miao, my soul cat of 19yrs, passed on 22/2/2025, I began to picture a doorway—a kind of portal into one’s inner depths.

My song has a sense of transmission or broadcast within it. Initially, I thought about using a retro radio as a visual representation of that idea, but it didn’t quite capture the innocence or childlike quality I was looking for.

Then I remembered a device I had as a child: the Speak & Spell toy, which would play back the sound of the word you typed. It felt much closer to the feeling I wanted to convey.

After I did a rough sketch of the visual, I fed it to an AI image generation tool to help me with the full visualization.

Priori to this, I had much tinkering on the AI Image generation prompt for a specific illustration style that I wanted, from the atmosphere, lighting, color scheme, to the overall dreamlike scene.

Here’s how AI helped me transform my sketch into an animated visual.

While I understand some may not agree with the use of AI. However, for independent artist like myself with limited financial budget, we’ll have to make use of the tools that are available, to help bring our visions to life.

At least, the final product still had some form of artistic direction from the creator (Me) 🙈 I also tried to avoid infringing on any intellectual property.

About ‘222’

This track, ‘222’ was originally written for a dark ambient compilation.

I remembered when I struck the first note of the melody, it felt like something has awaken within me. The rest of the melody flowed effortlessly. It didn’t feel composed. It felt as if the track had already existed somewhere. Waiting for me to tune into its frequency.

During production, the number 222 kept appearing.

2:22am.
222 likes.
Repeating patterns in small, ordinary places. I didn’t chase meaning, I just noticed. But the more I noticed, the more it felt like a quiet nod from somewhere unseen.That’s when I got the idea to name this track, ‘222’.
